Clarence Fugett, Sr. was born on March 30, 1900, in Lorena, TX to Tamer Tyner and Newton Fugett.
He was the eldest of five children blessed to that union. He had three brothers: L.B. Fugett, Willie Fugett and E.L. Ritchie and one sister: Sara Fugett Kirkland. Clarence and his family moved to Waurika, OK in 1917. There he would meet and marry Estella Bryant. To this marriage, two children were born, a son; James Calvern Fugett and a daughter; Carrie Mae Fugett. Estella predeceased Clarence shortly after their marriage.
After losing Estella, Clarence married Gussie Mae Lowe on June 23, 1925 at Waurika, Jefferson County, OK.
Gussie was born on May 15, 1907 in Italy, TX to Ethel Ritchie and Arthur Lowe. She was the eldest of five children blessed to that union. She had four sisters.
To the marriage of Gussie and Clarence, twelve children were born, seven daughters and five sons; Dorothy J Fugett Boydston, Clarence Fugett, Jr., Ethel M. Fugett Dennis, Pearlyne L. Fugett Laurence, Verna R. Fugett Willaims, Maurice Fugett Crawford, Lois H. Fugett Phelps, Joyce L. Fugett Ricks, Paul R. Fugett, Michael E. Fugett, Gerald K. Fugett and Coy G. Fugett. Prior to her marriage to Clarence, Gussie M. Lowe had married Anderson Gipson. To that marriage, one child was born, Lee Otis Gipson.
Clarence (aka Coke, Coke Daddy, Daddy Coke) and Gussie (aka Mamma Dear, Mamma Gussie) lives were anchored in belief and service of the ‘LORD’. They united and worshiped with the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Waurika, OK., Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Gainesville, TX and Antioch Baptist Church in Duncan, OK.; always remaining faithful to GOD while serving in multiple capacities within each Church.
Daddy Coke and Mamma Dear settled in Duncan, OK. in 1963 where for many years, he worked at the local compress and she in domestic service while being a housewife and loving mother. Daddy Coke passed away on April 6, 1993. Mamma Dear passed away on September 11, 1997. Gone from Earth but eternally in God’s kingdom and NEVER forgotten…
